The Olive Shed

The Olive Shed

Princes Wharf
Cosy & Nice

Perched on Princes Wharf at the edge of Bristol's Floating Harbour, The Olive Shed has been one of the city's most quietly beloved restaurants since it first opened in 2001. The setting does a lot of the work — harbour views from every table, French doors thrown open on warmer days, candlelit and cosy when the evenings draw in — but the food more than holds its own. The menu roams across the Mediterranean: fresh tapas loaded with olives, herbs and good olive oil; Moroccan-spiced hummus; deep-fried anchovies; mussels that have become something of a local institution; and baked aubergine and rib-eye for those wanting something more substantial. Organic wines, local beers, and genuinely warm service round things off. Unpretentious, independent, and thoroughly Bristol.

Under the Stars

Under the Stars

Narrow Quay
Cosy & Nice

Moored on Narrow Quay at the heart of Bristol's Harbourside, Under the Stars is exactly what it sounds like — a floating Mediterranean tapas bar on a restored cargo boat, with a rooftop deck, water views in every direction and a menu built around the idea of ships leaving Bristol for the Mediterranean and bringing the best of it back. Since 2010, it's been serving some of the city's most-loved tapas: crab croquetas, chorizo, patatas bravas and freshly made pizza — dough to topping — all prepared on board. The interior is warm and intimate with restored wood panelling and harbour views through every window; the upper deck, when the Bristol weather plays ball, is something else entirely. Relaxed, independent, and entirely one of a kind.

The River Grille @ the Bristol Hotel

The River Grille @ the Bristol Hotel

The Bristol Hotel, Prince St
Cosy & Nice

Sitting inside The Bristol Hotel on Narrow Quay, The River Grille is one of the city's most elegant dining rooms — floor-to-ceiling windows, warm wooden floors and uninterrupted views across the Harbourside making the setting as much of a draw as the food. Head Chef Pawel Mikolajczewski writes his menu quarterly, built entirely around the finest seasonal produce from the South West: fresh catch from the fishing port of Brixham, 28-day aged West Country beef cooked on the grill with real precision, and a constantly evolving à la carte that lets the ingredients do the talking. On Friday and Saturday evenings a pianist plays in the lounge bar, giving the room an easy, unhurried warmth. Polished without being stuffy, and with one of the best views in Bristol thrown in for good measure.

Glasgow

My husband and I went in the Glasgow Merchant City Restaurant Tour. At each restaurant the food was wonderful and we got drink for each course too. We could tour as quickly or as slowly as we wanted and we had plenty of time to visit all restaurants. We definitely plan to go on another tour and will know it is so good to buy as a gift! I have recommended this tour to friends and colleagues who have also taken the opportunity to go on a food tour!

My partner and I booked on to the Castle street restaurant tour in Liverpool and it was possibly our favourite date we have ever been on! It was well organised, good value for money and a great opportunity to try new restaurants around our city which we have since visited regularly. I would definitely like to try one of the other tours.

Concept is brilliant, allowing participants to visit 6 restaurants in the city. My friend and I attended and thoroughly enjoyed our home town Nottingham. The food was plentiful accompanied by a drink at each restaurant. Good value for money - recommend this to couples, families and friends. Make that special occasion more memorable. Our visit included Vi-Va, Delilah, Peter Pizzeria, Coco Tangs, Baresca and Bohens (in that order).

Great experience and would recommend!

It was a great way to try out 6 different restaurants. Fantastic way to catch up with friends as no poring over menus and waiting for orders or the bill. The short walks in between each venue were welcome. I'd say we spent roughly an hour in each venue.

A Fantastic Foodie Experience!

I’d never done the tour before and I’m so glad I finally did! It was such a fun and delicious way to spend the day. I loved trying new dishes and exploring different types of cuisine — each of the six venues offered something unique, and every stop came with a perfectly paired drink, which added to the experience.

Being in Shrewsbury made it even better. The time to walk between venues gave us a chance to chat, enjoy the surroundings, and really savour the day. It felt relaxed, friendly, and full of flavour.

Overall, it was a lovely day — fun, tasty, and a great way to discover new spots. Highly recommended for any foodie looking for a good time!

We had a great day

We had a great day. Every restaurant was very friendly and very well organised. Just trying a sample of their delicious meals is enough to make us want to visit them again. The variety in the dishes was brilliant, from Indian tapas, sliders, Spanish, Vietnamese, pizza and cheese & crackers, we had it all, together with the lovely drink accompaniments. Would highly recommend to anyone, great value for money.
