Located on the historic, bustling Rose Street in the heart of Edinburgh's city centre, Tamil Teru brings the bold, sun-drenched energy of South Indian street food culture to Scotland. Its name directly reflects its identity, Tamil honoring the language of Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka, and Teru translating to "street", seamlessly capturing the spirit of a vibrant coastal restopub. The interior beautifully weaves together two worlds. A sprawling, bright mural lines the staircase, playfully mixing Scottish icons like Greyfriars Bobby and Tunnock's Tea Cakes with the silhouette of the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai. The layout transitions from a lively ground-floor street-dining space to a cozy, green-hued private dining room upstairs, creating a venue that feels both modern and deeply rooted in tradition. The vibe is exceptionally warm, friendly, and unhurried, channeling the Omotenashi-like hospitality of southern India where meals are shared generously. Rather than generic curries, the focus is entirely on coastal South Indian street food meant for casual, communal grazing. Guests can tear into crisp dosas and flaky parottas, or sample punchy, scratch-made small plates infused with fresh pandan and curry leaves. Complete with a vibrant bar serving Indian draft beers and signature botanical cocktails like the Saffron Old Fashioned, it is a soulful city sanctuary built for celebration and conversation.

What a wonderful, sociable way to spend a Sunday afternoon, sampling different restaurants that we probably wouldn’t have tried, but will definitely visit again now👍Something for everyone, walking, talking, great fun, clever app, will definitely be booking again. Thank you🙏🏻
Bristol
I didn't really know what to expect as there were not many reviews out there when I booked but it was great fun. I visited parts of Bristol and restaurants that were previously unknown to me. The venues were great, as was the food. We felt very welcome and great effort had been made to provide us with interesting and tasty food and drink. Food was so plentiful that we took the last meal home in a doggie bag because we were stuffed and didn't want to waste it
Glasgow
My husband and I went in the Glasgow Merchant City Restaurant Tour. At each restaurant the food was wonderful and we got drink for each course too. We could tour as quickly or as slowly as we wanted and we had plenty of time to visit all restaurants. We definitely plan to go on another tour and will know it is so good to buy as a gift! I have recommended this tour to friends and colleagues who have also taken the opportunity to go on a food tour!
Birmingham
This was an amazing tour. It was our first time and we enjoyed having the freedom of no guide and on our own timescales.
Manchester
We had a great day. Every restaurant was very friendly and very well organised. Just trying a sample of their delicious meals is enough to make us want to visit them again. The variety in the dishes was brilliant, from Indian tapas, sliders, Spanish, Vietnamese, pizza and cheese & crackers, we had it all, together with the lovely drink accompaniments. Would highly recommend to anyone, great value for money.

Liverpool
My partner and I booked on to the Castle street restaurant tour in Liverpool and it was possibly our favourite date we have ever been on! It was well organised, good value for money and a great opportunity to try new restaurants around our city which we have since visited regularly. I would definitely like to try one of the other tours.
Birmingham
Good value for money. Something fun for a Sunday. Good opportunity to see restaurants you'd not necessarily normally visit.

Fantastic experience. Visited great restaurants I wouldn't have gone to otherwise.
Glasgow
Fantastic day out in Glasgow on the Restaurant Tour. We had not expected the portions to be so generous, full size mains, and what a nice surprise for the matched wines to be equally generous, and in most cases of a very high quality! It was good to have the restaurants spaced out enough to walk off the meal before digging into the next one! And all the venues were beautifully appointed, the ambiance just perfect for not one but six meals fit for a couple of princesses!!
Birmingham
Really really well organized and some fantastic places to visit. The difference between the best and worst place on the tour was quite vast, but 5 of our 6 stops were incredible and the variety actually made it more interesting and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!
