Housed in Glasgow’s original fire station in the Merchant City, Swadish takes its name from the Hindi word for delicious. Chef Ajay Kumar, who cooked in India, Malaysia and Singapore before settling in Scotland, opened it with his wife Jas in 2019 and has since won the Scotland heat of BBC’s Great British Menu. His cooking pairs time-honoured Indian techniques like fermentation, pickling and slow cooking with Scotland’s seasonal produce, from Highland game to hand-dived scallops, and goes well beyond the idea of a typical curry. In September 2026, Swadish was named AA Restaurant of the Year for Scotland.

Just steps from Glasgow’s most famous cone-topped statue, The Iron Duke takes its name from the man underneath it. Inside the old telephone exchange on Royal Exchange Square, exposed brick and warm lighting set the scene for a kitchen that puts Scottish produce front and centre. Haggis is wrapped into a Beef Wellington, crisp potato arrives with smoked onion aioli and Mull cheddar, and pork croquettes are lifted with kimchi and pickled fennel. A potato and leek kiev, finished with leek butter and black garlic, shows the same instinct: familiar comfort food, given a sharper, more considered edge.

Birmingham
Good value for money. Something fun for a Sunday. Good opportunity to see restaurants you'd not necessarily normally visit.

Really nice to visit the restaurants under our own steam and not be bearded around in groups. Variety of restaurants excellent and felt welcome at everyone we visited. Would definitely recommend The Restaurant Tour.
Shrewsbury
I’d never done the tour before and I’m so glad I finally did! It was such a fun and delicious way to spend the day. I loved trying new dishes and exploring different types of cuisine — each of the six venues offered something unique, and every stop came with a perfectly paired drink, which added to the experience. Being in Shrewsbury made it even better. The time to walk between venues gave us a chance to chat, enjoy the surroundings, and really savour the day. It felt relaxed, friendly, and full of flavour. Overall, it was a lovely day — fun, tasty, and a great way to discover new spots. Highly recommended for any foodie looking for a good time!

It was a great way to try out 6 different restaurants. Fantastic way to catch up with friends as no poring over menus and waiting for orders or the bill. The short walks in between each venue were welcome. I'd say we spent roughly an hour in each venue.
Liverpool
Experiencing the light bites and accompanying drinks at each restaurant was enjoyable, we visited places we didn’t know of until that day. The route was well planned and although we knew a lot of people were taking part that day, it did not feel busy or at all rushed as the starting routes varied. We went with friends and had a great day. Would recommend.

We had a great afternoon, the restaurants were a great mix & everyone was charming. We even spoke to other participants & they were having a great time too.
Nottingham
Concept is brilliant, allowing participants to visit 6 restaurants in the city. My friend and I attended and thoroughly enjoyed our home town Nottingham. The food was plentiful accompanied by a drink at each restaurant. Good value for money - recommend this to couples, families and friends. Make that special occasion more memorable. Our visit included Vi-Va, Delilah, Peter Pizzeria, Coco Tangs, Baresca and Bohens (in that order).
Bristol
Very nice to do on a Sunday afternoon. Nice to get to know new restaurants. All participants did their very best to serve us delicious dishes. All dishes were tasty and particularly innovative.
Glasgow
Fantastic day out in Glasgow on the Restaurant Tour. We had not expected the portions to be so generous, full size mains, and what a nice surprise for the matched wines to be equally generous, and in most cases of a very high quality! It was good to have the restaurants spaced out enough to walk off the meal before digging into the next one! And all the venues were beautifully appointed, the ambiance just perfect for not one but six meals fit for a couple of princesses!!
Birmingham
This was an amazing tour. It was our first time and we enjoyed having the freedom of no guide and on our own timescales.
