An osteria is a type of Italian eatery with historical roots in hospitality, offering authentic and regional cuisine in a casual, welcoming environment. It refelcts the Italian emphasis on community, tradition, and the joy of sharing good food and wine.
The word 'osteria' comes from the Italian word 'oste', which means 'host'. Historically, an osteria was a place where travelers could find food, drink and sometimes lodging.
In contemporary Italy, the concept of the osteria has been both preserved and modernized. Some osterie maintain the traditional approach, offering authentic dishes in a rustic setting, while others have adapted to modern tastes and culinary trends, sometimes blending the old with the new.

Bristol
I didn't really know what to expect as there were not many reviews out there when I booked but it was great fun. I visited parts of Bristol and restaurants that were previously unknown to me. The venues were great, as was the food. We felt very welcome and great effort had been made to provide us with interesting and tasty food and drink. Food was so plentiful that we took the last meal home in a doggie bag because we were stuffed and didn't want to waste it

It was a lovely day and whilst we were a little apprehensive of 6 restaurants in 6 hours we managed it very comfortably. The establishments were all in close proximity for walking - the longest being 5/6 minute walk. All the food was well presented and very tasty and the wine/drinks pairing worked well. Every establishment had lovely welcoming staff. We have visited more than 3 of the extablishments since then.

Very nice to do on a Sunday afternoon. Nice to get to know new restaurants. All participants did their very best to serve us delicious dishes. All dishes were tasty and particularly innovative.
Shrewsbury
I’d never done the tour before and I’m so glad I finally did! It was such a fun and delicious way to spend the day. I loved trying new dishes and exploring different types of cuisine — each of the six venues offered something unique, and every stop came with a perfectly paired drink, which added to the experience. Being in Shrewsbury made it even better. The time to walk between venues gave us a chance to chat, enjoy the surroundings, and really savour the day. It felt relaxed, friendly, and full of flavour. Overall, it was a lovely day — fun, tasty, and a great way to discover new spots. Highly recommended for any foodie looking for a good time!

Such an incredible concept. The best possible way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Manchester
We had a great day. Every restaurant was very friendly and very well organised. Just trying a sample of their delicious meals is enough to make us want to visit them again. The variety in the dishes was brilliant, from Indian tapas, sliders, Spanish, Vietnamese, pizza and cheese & crackers, we had it all, together with the lovely drink accompaniments. Would highly recommend to anyone, great value for money.
Birmingham
Really really well organized and some fantastic places to visit. The difference between the best and worst place on the tour was quite vast, but 5 of our 6 stops were incredible and the variety actually made it more interesting and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend!

It was a great way to try out 6 different restaurants. Fantastic way to catch up with friends as no poring over menus and waiting for orders or the bill. The short walks in between each venue were welcome. I'd say we spent roughly an hour in each venue.
